Yoga Tips
- Make
yourself comfortable - feel free to come early and warm up slowly if
you like
- Yoga
should always be pleasurable – if you feel pain or unusual
discomfort, reevaluate your position and modify to your individual
needs
- Do
not feel you have to do everything or hold a pose longer than you
feel is right for you
- Stretching
is not a forceful event – it is actually relaxing, releasing
muscle tension, elongating, slowly, very slowly let gravity do the
work. Enjoy the stretch!
- Never
force or rush a yoga pose, slow and easy
- Protect
your body, joints and muscles from injury by listening, honoring and
respecting your body
- Yoga
is noncompetitive, nonjudgmental. Do not judge others or compare
yourself to others, you are unique and an individual, blessed to
have your unique capabilities and unlimited possibilities.
- Sense
of balance needs practice to retain
- Concentrate
on “cans” what you can do, not what you “can’t” do, then
build from there, a little at a time
- Breath
and relax whenever possible.
- Use
the wall or support when you feel the need.
- Try
to keep your mind focused on the moment.
- Before
or after class ask me questions, give me feedback, tell me your
thoughts and suggestions.
- Enjoy
life because it is grand!
- The
single biggest investment we make in life is the investment we make
in ourselves.
- Our
bodies are machines, unique though since the more energy we use
today the more energy we have tomorrow – the more we challenge our
muscles the stronger they become – them more we stretch our
muscles the more elastic they become – the more we discover about
ourselves the more we want to learn – as long as we honor and
respect ourselves along the way.
